The television program SPIRIT OF MIAMI will honor Ralph Sanchez, his tenacity, vision, commitment to excellence, his passion for car racing and his contributions to Miami history and the industry he loved.

The journey to produce the program has been sentimental, emotional and magical, feeling like Ralph continues to make great things happen.

Rafael A. Sanchez realized his dreams against almost unimaginable odds. The handsome, charismatic Cuban refugee fell in love with car racing – and the idea of racing in the city streets – as a child after hearing about the legendary Grand Prix of Cuba. Eventually, the promoter would transform the streets of downtown Miami into an international speedway of global magnitude – and change South Florida forever.

Program participants include the “royalty” of car racing: Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, Al Unser, Jr., Juan Manuel Fangio II as well as other famous drivers, team owners and business associates.

This is the story of car racing in South Florida from 1983 to the present and one man’s impact on the sport, a city, and people whose lives have been forever altered for the privilege of knowing him.

The “checkered flag” has dropped on our time with Ralph but his legacy lives on through his family and friends who include some of the greatest talent the sport has ever known.
